Las Palmas by the Sea is proud to be a 100% Mexican-owned property, founded as a 12-room hotel by Mr. Ernesto Cruz in 1973. In 1974, Mr. Gabriel Igartua stayed at the hotel and soon decided to form a partnership with Mr. Cruz to help the property flourish. By 1977 the hotel had expanded to 102 more rooms, with the grand reopening attended by Mr. Flavio Romero de Velazco, Governor of Edo. from Jalisco. Two years later, the hotel grew to 153 and was reopened by Arch.
Roseell Lama, the Secretary of Tourism. The continued popularity of the hotel led to an expansion to 221 rooms in 1996. 2002 was an unfortunate year in hotel history due to the ravages of Hurricane Kena, which destroyed the entire ground floor of the hotel. The resort was rebuilt with cutting edge design and facilities and today has 225 rooms overlooking the beach and garden – offering a postcard-perfect vacation destination for families, couples and groups seeking the authentic Puerto Vallarta experience.
